Netgard™ MFD
Common Access Card (CAC / PIV) Access to Multi-function Devices
Netgard™ MFD is a drop-in, in-line, multi-factor user authentication solution for networked multifunction printer, scanner, and copier devices. The Netgard™ MFD appliance protects a network by requiring users to authenticate themselves with a smartcard and personal identification number (PIN), thereby preventing unauthorized users from accessing privileged materials or tampering with network resources. Without a card and PIN, the Netgard™ MFD appliance does not permit the user to scan and send from the multi-function device. Netgard™ MFD supports both local user authentication as well as network authentication using LDAP or Active Directory.
For U.S. government agencies, Netgard™ MFD meets Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) by facilitating Common Access Card (CAC) multifactor authentication required by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for access to network-based devices and systems. Many legacy devices, purchased before the adoption of HSPD-12, do not support CAC access. As a result, many useful legacy devices, such as multi-function printers, scanners and faxes, have been rendered useless. With Netgard™ MFD, Cryptek offers an affordable solution that helps government agencies make the most of their technology investment by bringing these legacy devices into compliance with HSPD-12.
- Drop-in design for easy installation
- Meets Homeland Presidential Security Directive (HSPD-12)
- Emails are digitally signed and encrypted (using industry-standard AES 256 encryption), offering security and positive confirmation of sender
- Supports all standards, including: ISO/IEC 7816, ISO/IEC 7810, FIPS 140-2, FIPS 201 and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC)/Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card standard
- Easily integrates with existing Active Directory and/or PKI infrastructure
- Supports Secure Print functions when used with workflow software
- Netgard™ MFD extends the useful life of legacy multifunction devices by enforcing new, Smartcard-based identity and access control requirements such as HSPD-12 and the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Common Access Card (CAC) Issuance Mandate
- The Netgard™ MFD integrates seamlessly into existing network and user management models; a point-and-click interface makes it easy to administer
- As a separate security appliance with its own management interface and centralized policy structure the Netgard™ MFD enforces a “separation of duties” model that has become a key part of many security compliance programs
